HIV: HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS HIV is a virus spread through certain body fluids that attack the body’s immune system , HIV can destroy many of these cells that the body need to fight off infections and disease, HIV can lead to AIDS

How do HIV work? When HIV (which is a virus) gets in your immune system it looks for a type of white blood cell called CD4 and uses its machinery to duplicate itself and after it kills the CD4 cell. CD4 cells are important for fighting infections and diseases. Lower number of CD4 cells can be a sign of AIDS

HOW IS HIV SPREAD? HIV is spread only in certain body fluids from a person infected with HIV. These fluids are blood, semen, pre- seminal fluids, rectal fluids, vaginal fluids, breast milk. HIV is spread mainly by having sex, and sharing injection drug equipment such as needles.

SYMPTOMS Flu-like symptoms include fever, chills, rashes, night sweats, muscle aches. It also includes sore throat, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes and mouth ulcers.

Who’s to Blame? Our group feels as though the contraction and spread of HIV are individuals faults because individuals are the ones that decided who they have sexual intercourse with. If an individual does not first ask their significant other if they have any diseases before having sexual intercourse, they can only blame themselves for not being more careful.
