Learning targets for today’s lesson: October 26, 2016 Learning targets for today’s lesson: 1. I can compare The Big Bang Theory and The Steady State Theory using a Venn Diagram. 2. I can identify and describe the three possible shapes of the universe using synectics. 3. I can explain the evidence supporting The Big Bang Theory through a tweet.

Word Splash The Universe

“$40 Million Telescope Will Seek Answer to 13 “$40 Million Telescope Will Seek Answer to 13.8 billion-year-old Riddle.”

“$40 Million Telescope Will Seek Answer to 13 “$40 Million Telescope Will Seek Answer to 13.8 billion-year-old Riddle.” Identify one word that helps to convey the message of the literary passage. (Identify three possible choices should your selection be used by another student.) You should be able to support your word selection with an explanation as to why you chose that word. Take turns sharing out your selection with your table group.

It's Socrative Time It’s your turn to demonstrate what you have learned from the reading of the article! (this can only be completed in class)

Let’s Get to Learning about the Big Bang Theory! Complete the following assignments with your table group on oversized Post-It Notes Paper using Module 3 Topic 1 and the Internet : a. compare The Big Bang Theory and The Steady State Theory using a Venn Diagram, b. create three synectics using the three possible shapes of the universe, and c. complete a “Tweet your summary…” and post it on the Post-It Notes Paper (using tape).

a. Compare The Big Bang Theory and The Steady State Theory using a Venn Diagram. b. Create three synectics using the three possible shapes of the universe. (What is unique about synectics is that it employs the use of metaphor and analogy to spark creativity.) Examples: Topographic maps are like Siri because they both provide you with information for making informed decisions. Experimental design is like a recipe because they both provide steps to follow in order to make something. c. complete a “Tweet your summary…” and post it on the Post-It Notes Paper (using tape).

Module 3 Topic 1 Exit Ticket Back to Socrative!

ABC Brainstorming Activity Using the letters of the alphabet, complete the ABC Brainstorming sheet using words or phrases that begin with each letter of the alphabet and are related to the Big Bang Theory.
