Presentation transcript:

Bellringer - Journal Discuss one way we have spoken about tolerance or intolerance in our class. You can use any of the following texts: All The Light We Cannot See, “Negro Hero,” “Legal Alien,” “How it Feels to Be Colored Me,” and “Black-ish” You will have 10 minutes. Online Stopwatch If you want to email me your extra-credit, you can send it to amathes@udel.edu. I will accept them through 10AM tomorrow.

Finding Your Way In this exercise, you will be imitating Daniel and Marie’s discussions about how to get around independently. Once you are finished with the maps, you will be writing about this experience.

What went well? What did not? What did your partner do that was helpful? What could they have done to make things easier? WHY DID I HAVE YOU DO THIS?

“Letter from a Birmingham Jail” We need to be done with this by next class! Finish reading and answering the questions alone or with a partner!

In Class Essay In an interview with NPR, author Anthony Doerr said, “We're losing thousands of people for whom World War II is memory every day. In another decade, there will be nobody left — very very few people left — who can remember the war. And so history becomes something that becomes slightly more malleable.” Write a letter to him about other historical or modern instances of intolerance, and compare it to All The Light We Cannot See. You may use your novel, and any texts we read for class. Be sure to have a clear thesis, to write in a formal and academic tone, and to cite evidence when necessary. Pre-writing: outlines
