Teaching Chinese Characters: Horror Movie Theme Bo Hao, Hunter College International CLTA-GNY Conference May 15, 2010

Basic Principle To teach characters under an interesting and meaningful theme. Making connections between American pop culture and Chinese language.

Why Horror Movie ? Cultural phenomenon. An interesting topic that young adolescents like to discuss. Non-traditional Topic in the Curriculum.

Learning Objectives 15 new radicals: 尸、殳、犬、黑、酉、疒、血、車、走、足、身、頁、骨、鬼,麻 Corresponding characters: 屍、殺、狂、黑、死、醒、瘋、血、車、軍、超、跑、跳、躲、骨、鬼、魔。
