“The Scriptures Teach That Water Baptism Is Essential To Gospel Obedience In Order To Receive Remission Of Sins.”

“The Scriptures” The Bible, God’s Inspired Word The 39 Books of the Old Testament The 27 Books of the New Testament II Timothy 3:16,17 “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (17) That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

“Teach” Imparts information educating us Instructs (& authorizes) by command, example, and implication Cannot decide by emotionalism, family ties, creeds, majority vote, etc. What does God’s Word tell us? We will have to stay out of sick beds, the battlefields, the deserts, and hypothetical cases because, after all, “The Scriptures Teach”…

“Water Baptism” To Dip, plunge, immerse, submerge in the element of water The baptism of the commission of Jesus Christ, Matthew 28:19,20 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: (20) Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

“Gospel Obedience” Hebrews 5:8-9 – Jesus is “the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him” II Thess.1:7-9 “taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: (9) Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;”

“in order to receive remission of sins” One promised blessing of obeying the Lord’s gospel plan is the remission of or forgiveness of past sins. Acts 2:38; Mark 16:15-16

What The Question/ Issue Is Not: Whether or not one is saved by faith Whether or not one is saved by the blood of Christ Whether or not one is saved by God’s grace Whether or not one is saved by baptism alone Whether or not one is saved by works of merit Whether or not one is saved by water

What The Question / Issue Is Is water baptism essential to salvation? When or at what point is one saved by faith? When or at what point is the blood of Christ applied to the sinner?

If Baptism If Baptism Is Is Essential Not Essential individual not Then any accountable individual not baptized is now lost & will be lost! Those who teach that it is not essential are false teachers! If Baptism Is Not Essential Those who teach it is essential are binding where God has not bound & are false teachers!

Paul’s Gospel & Commission “For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.” I Corinthians 1:17

I Corinthians 1:10-17 “Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. (11) For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.”

(12) Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. (13) Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? (14) I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;”
