Mrs. Barback’s Class Newsletter Week of: October 22, 2018 ELA: This week we will continue Module 2 of Wit Wisdom. This module explores why scientists and astronauts explore space. We will begin reading the text “One Giant Leap” and continue to learn about Apollo 11’s mission to space. We will answer text dependent questions. We will learn complete a writing on central message for the story. Math: This week we will be counting by units of 9 to multiply and divide using number bonds to decompose. We will be able to interpret the unknown in multiplication and division to model and solve problems using units of 9. Social Living: This week will begin our Heritage and Culture. We will learn about Louisiana culture, customs, food, and music. We will also learn about influential people who are from or reside in the state of Louisiana. We will also celebrate this unit with a Culture Day celebration. More information to follow. Please review each night with your child. Homework Monday: Math- Worksheet and Sprint ELA- Comprehension Social Living: Study Tuesday: Math- Worksheet and Sprint Wednesday: Math- Worksheet and Sprint Thursday: Math- Worksheet and Sprint *Important Information* Cold Read – Friday 10/26 Biography Project – November 1st Culture and Heritage Test – November 1st Sprint and Spelling Assessment Friday Birthdays This Month Zair Benchmark tests will not be sent home. If you would like to see your child’s tests, Report Card Conference is October 23, 2018.
