Questions? Comments? **Please write any specific questions or comments you may have during the presentation on the paper provided. Put your name, your child’s name, and your email address or telephone number. I will take these at the end of the meeting and contact you as soon as possible! I will also have a question/answer time at the end that pertains to general TD questions.

The CMS Catalyst Model Overview TD is a consultation and collaboration between the classroom teachers and TD Teacher. Gifted students are gifted all week, not just 90 minutes per week. “TD” happens throughout the day, not just when I am in the room. Classroom teachers differentiate to meet the needs of the gifted students. If you have additional questions, please ask your classroom teachers.

Eastover Overview All students identified as gifted and catalyst students are in heterogeneously and homogeneously mixed classes depending on the subject, and will be receiving TD services through activities and lessons. When a student does not see me face to face, it does not mean they are not getting “TD” services. TD is more than just my teaching them face to face. I will assist the classroom teachers with Math and Literacy to meet the needs of all students.

DEP … What is it? The Differentiated Education Plan is created for each grade level. TD teachers and classroom teachers create it together to best meet the needs of students. It includes goals for the year and outlines programs/resources that will be used.

DEP – Environment Pull out, Push in, and Testing TD teacher plans with and provides activities for the classroom teacher through planning blocks and staff PD. Some special area collaboration TD teacher comes into the classroom and works with some or all of the students TD teacher pulls students out of the classroom to work directly with them TD teachers test all second graders, new to CMS, as well as re-test students in fourth or fifth grade

DEP - Resources TD Teacher will also support during I/E blocks. This will include : Jacob’s Ladder – Reading Comprehension William and Mary for gifted readers Novel studies M2, M3 Junior Great Books Paideia Seminar and coached projects PBL Hands on Equations Problem-Solver Caesar’s English and many more….

Performance Review -Communication and Collaboration TD students are evaluated each year by the TD teacher and the classroom teacher. They are rated on: -Communication and Collaboration (written, spoken, and nonverbal) -Critical Thinking and Problem Solving (analyzing, evaluating, and reasoning) -Creativity and Innovation (innovative thinking, new solutions, originality, products) -Personal Growth (motivation, social/emotional awareness)

.

Performance Review Evaluation Level 1 – Rarely Demonstrates Level 2 – Sometimes Demonstrates Level 3 – Consistently Demonstrates Level 4 – Independently Demonstrates *Students will receive an action plan if they receive a 1 in any category.

Communication and Email Information about the Talent Development Program will be shared via email and is on my website. Information will also be sent home via the Tuesday folder. A monthly newsletter will go home as well (also on the website). I am happy to sit down with you one on one to discuss your child, the Talent Development program, or anything else. Do not hesitate to email me and set up a conference.

Questions Again, if you have specific questions or concerns about your child, please email me and we can meet at another time. Many concerns parents have about the TD program involve testing data. That data needs to remain confidential. To be assured all students’ privacy is respected I will respond to each question or concern in a less public, more private forum.
