Underline all ism! وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَقُولُ آَمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَبِالْيَوْمِ الْآَخِرِ وَمَا هُمْ بِمُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿2:8﴾   يُخَادِعُونَ اللَّهَ وَالَّذِينَ آَمَنُوا وَمَا يَخْدَعُونَ إِلَّا أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ ﴿2:9﴾

Munafiq There is a group of people who have no faith inside their heart but they pretend that they have iman They do not acknowledge their mistakes Their words don’t match what they say They try to deceive Allah swt and the believers

The Three Groups There is a group who have faith (Iman) in their hearts and they show it by doing good deeds There is a group who have no faith in their hearts. Whatever they do is not accepted. There is a group who have no faith in their hearts but with their actions they show they have faith. Mutaqee Kafir Munafiq

Reflect Put a tick at the end of each statement that you think is true for you Do I really believe that Allah swt exists with his attributes Do I believe that He is the one who is causing everything to happen Do I believe that one day I shall return to Him and will have to answer for everything that I did. Does my life shows that I believe Do my actions testify that I am a servant to Allah swt

Underline all ism! فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ فَزَادَهُمُ اللَّهُ مَرَضًا وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْذِبُونَ ﴿2:10﴾  وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَا تُفْسِدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ قَالُوا إِنَّمَا نَحْنُ مُصْلِحُونَ ﴿2:11﴾ 

What can remove hypocrisy from one’ heart? Iman What is the disease in the heart of the Munafiqs? Love of the world If the heart is sick one cannot be in good health. Why does Allah swt increase the disease in the heart of a hypocrite/Munafiq? This is because if a disease is left uncured it increases. Why are the Munafiq going to get a painful punishment? This is because they used to lie. What is their lie? In their heart they do not believe and say that they believe. What is that painful punishment? According to the Prophet peace be upon him boiling water will be poured over their heads until it enters a person’s body and then whatever is inside will fall out until it pours out of the feet and it melts away. And this punishment will be repeated What is the biggest sign of hypocrisy? Lying Who said “beware of lying as indeed lying is not from Iman”? Syedna Abu Bakr Siddiq

Three traits of a munafiq (hypocrite)– Hadith Different kinds of lies He lies even when he prays, fasts or peforms hajj He breaks promises When he is entrusted he betrays it Exaggeration False claims of love False claims of friendship False Praise

Reflect When you speak check if what you are saying is not a lie. Lying wastes good deeds. Think. Do you want to waste your good deeds. What are the moments, situations times, places when I lie. Why do I lie? Is it to please people, to look good in their eyes or to pretend to be what I am not. The Prophet peace be upon him hated a liar.

أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ الْمُفْسِدُونَ وَلَكِنْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ﴿2:12﴾ Underline all ism! أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ الْمُفْسِدُونَ وَلَكِنْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ ﴿2:12﴾   وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ آَمِنُوا كَمَا آَمَنَ النَّاسُ قَالُوا أَنُؤْمِنُ كَمَا آَمَنَ السُّفَهَاءُ أَلَا إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ السُّفَهَاءُ وَلَكِنْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿2:13﴾ 

Why don’t the Munafiq realize that they are causing harm? It’s because their hearts are sick. Who are the Mushriks calling “foolish” here ? The companions of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. Why are the Munafiqun happy in their hypocrisy? This is because they get immediate success because of their lies and treachery. What do the Munafiqun purchase in exchange for guidance? Misguidance
