Summer Reading Assignment TIPS

What am I responsible for? For each book, students will write a paragraph that includes the following information: 1) the title and author of the book, 2) a statement about a theme found in the book, and 3) an important quote from the book along with an 4) explanation as to why this quote is meaningful to them. These writing assignments are due the day of the quiz which is Wednesday, August 8th.

Expectations… You should TYPE or write neatly in PEN If you type, then italicize the title of the book. If you hand write, then underline the title of the book.

What is a “theme?” Themes are NOT just one word! “love” “hope” “happiness” Themes ARE the lessons or message an author wants to share in their work.

Direct Quote Make sure that you put the quote in context (tell who is saying it and when), and then tell why you think it is a meaningful quote.
