Week 13 BA9 Questions?

Grades If anyone has questions or problems with their grades, PLEASE come see me in office hours. I will not be discussing BA assignment grades with you after you turn in your Draft 1.2

4/20- BA9 Due 4/29 Last day Class 4/27- Draft 1.2 Due 5/4-Writing Review Due

Draft Examples I provided these in class- if you are absent and would like to see them, please come to my office to see it.

BA9 Does the initial focus of your draft as expressed in your thesis statement need revision? Are your purpose for writing and target audience easily identified after reading your draft? If you need to revise your thesis (and thus, a substantial portion of your paper), or if you need to better focus your purpose and identify your audience, your revisions of your body paragraph might start with those areas. You may need to make sure that your main point(s) are restated clearly, and that your readers understand the implications of your analysis. For this assignment, use the guidelines from Chapters 4, 5, 40, and 43 in the St. Martin’s Handbook to revise a substantial body paragraph (i.e. at least 4 sentences in length) from your Draft 1.1. Paste the original paragraph from your 1.1 draft into the assignment so that your instructor will be able to compare the original with your revision. Finally, write a short summary and evaluation of your revisions. Identify and explain which strategies you used in revision and explain these revisions achieve your purpose for the paper. Also let readers know here which paragraph, your original or the revision, is the strongest and why you believe that to be so.- This will be set up just like BA8 Provide specific examples from both the instructor commentary and from your draft in your analysis The total length of the analysis should be 350-500 words, NOT including the original and revised body paragraphs.

Short on your word count? “Quote” Layer 1: explain why the quote is what you are identifying it as OR explain/clarify the content of the quote/why are you using it Layer 2: Affect of audience- ethos, logos, pathos- be specific here Layer 3: How does this affect/persuade the audience? (aka why play on this specific ethos, logos, pathos?) Layer 4: Why use this choice? (i.e. provides emphasis ect.)--*This cannot necessarily be done on all choices.*
