Employed or Not Employed

Civilian and Non-institutionalized Adult Population: Everyone 16 years old or older and who is not in the military, not in jail or prison, not living permanently in nursing homes or in any other institution. Labor Force (LF): The total number of adult non-institutionalized either working or looking for work. Employed (E): The number of adult civilians that are working. Unemployed (U): The number of adult civilians that are not working. LF=E+U

1. ) Is your retired grandfather unemployed. No 1.) Is your retired grandfather unemployed? No. While he is not working, he is not looking for work.

2.) Is a woman that says home with her kids unemployed? No. She is not looking for work.
