How do you know when you’re Stressed? How do you feel, think or act?

Physical increase in adrenaline and cortisol Increased heart rate (pounding) elevated blood pressure sweaty palms tight feeling in chest headache diarrhea frequent minor illness nervous laughter stuttering sighing nausea or vomiting difficulty sleeping being accident prone/klutzy dry mouth shallow breathing “fight or flight” response

Mental/Emotional (caused by hormones) irritable angry outbursts depression restless (can't focus on one thing) nightmares or weird dreams forgetfulness less productive low self-esteem (self put-downs) tendency to cry suspicious/jealous (unreasonable) lack or loss of interest in things isolation less creative daydreaming or thinking a lot of the past

Social (caused by hormones) Increased aggressiveness in personality negative behavior increased eating breaking things risk-taking angry outburst toward others aggressive driving decreased eating carelessness alcohol or drug use

What happens when you are stressed? Physically?? 3 Things Mentally/Emotionally?? Socially??

What can you do? List a technique that you can use to deal with each symptom of stress.
