Thesis Practice!!!

On a blank sheet of paper -Pre-Write and write a thesis statement for the following prompt: “Evaluate the impact that European colonists had on the cultural and economic experiences of the native population prior to 1750.” -Remember: a thesis should rephrase the prompt and show your general argument!

Now -Re-write your thesis on a ½ sheet of paper. Try to make it shorter by removing at least 30% of the words (ie: If your thesis was 10 words, it should now be 7 words.)

Now Re-write your thesis on the sticky note. It should be shorter.Try to remove about 30% again. (Ie: If your thesis statement was 7 words, it should now be 5 words). Also though- your thesis statement should not be 5 words. That is an example. Make sure you don’t lose your argument when doing this by being too vague.
