April 16 to April 20 Important Dates: Miss Saglimbeni nsaglimbeni@stlucys.org Sneak Peek for Next Week: Starting next week will start our new unit on Trees. The students would be able to discuss what they know about trees and what they want to find out about trees? This week we will discuss how can we reduce, reuse, recycle, more effectively? The students would be able to make new things from recycled materials. The students would be able to make a fish using old CDs, and also make a landfill model after reading The Garbage Barge. Important Dates: 27 – Red’s Recycle Rama (9:30a.m.) Home Connections: At home you can help too. Talk to your child about trash and garbage. Help raise your child’s awareness of trash your family created every day, how you dispose, and what they can do to help. Take walks with your child and point out the trash and garbage and ask them questions, what do they think, where should the trash be placed, where would they place it, how can they help keep their community clean. When at home, during the daytime encourage them to turn off the light if they don’t need it, turn off the water if they are not using and so on. Look at books that talk about reduce, reuse, recycle. Enjoy it.
