Organic Shape Design
Organic vs. Geometric shapes Organic shapes – we see them in nature and with characteristics that are free flowing, informal and irregular. Geometric shapes – We see them in architecture and manufactured items.
Organic vs. Geometric shapes
Rhythm The repetition of visual movement – colors, shapes or lines Movement and rhythm work together to create the equivalent of a musical beat
Regular rhythm The repetition of elements that are the same or nearly the same in regular sequence
Irregular rhythm Shapes are spaced unevenly without exact duplication
Positive/Negative Space Positive – is the subject/shape Negative – the background
Focal point The focal point of a painting is an area of emphasis that demands the most attention and to which the viewer's eye is drawn, pulling it into the painting. It is like the bullseye on a target, although not as overt. It is how the artist draws attention to particular content of the painting, and is often the most important element of the painting.
