RESIDENCY VERIFICATION

Residency verification Texas Education Code 25.001 When a person applies for admission, the District may require evidence that the student resides within our boundaries. Proof of residency: examples Utility bill Apartment Lease Affidavit of residency The District may investigate the student’s residency as necessary. Mail addressed to the family Driver’s license address Voter registration cards Furniture, toothbrushes & socks Annual verification is allowed under Board Policy FD (Local). Procedures for annual verification are being developed.

Residency verification: PENALTIES for falsifying information A person who enrolls a child in school under false information may be guilty of a criminal offense. Tampering with Governmental Records – Texas Penal Code 37.10 Knowingly making a false entry in a government record Class C misdemeanor: $500 fine Third degree felony: 2-10 years in jail, $10,000 fine Tuition charges A person who knowingly falsifies information on a form required for a student’s enrollment may be required to pay the greater of: The maximum tuition fee the District may charge for the student; or The amount the District budgeted per student as a maintenance & operations expense ($8,559.00). Added: If the closest campus is closed and there is not adequate space or instructional staff, the child may be assigned to the open campus closest to the employee’s work site. Termination Mid-Year If the parent’s employment is terminated mid-year, the child can stay for the semester or year if an application is submitted at the time of termination.
