MCScap _____________________ How to replace the electrode in the cap CLINIC SLEEP PROFESSINAL

Instructions for replacing the electrode in the MCScap Code: MCS.MC000000-67 Revision: 1.0 of August 24, 2018 Purpose: This instruction manual is intended for replacing the faulty electrode in MCScap of the CLINIC, SLEEP, PROFESSIONAL model. Required tools and materials: Repair kit MCScap (CLINIC / SLEEP / PROFESSIONAL according to the MCScap model); Resistance measuring device (multimeter); Phillips screwdriver 5 mm; Diagonal pliers; A clerical or stripping knife (if necessary). Required qualifications: Knowledge of the operation of this system; Initial knowledge in electrical safety; Accuracy. Before application this procedure, you have to sure that all requirement actions were done according to MCS. MC000000-63R (manual)

MCScap repair kit Repair electrode MCScap – C/T/NTC. (electrode type according to MCScap model) – 2 pcs. Extractor – 1 pc. Cable tie 3*100 mm – 4/4/6 pcs. Cable fixator – 5 pcs. Thread 2 m – 1 pc. Instruction – 1 pc.

STEP 1 of 14 Identify the faulty electrode on the MCScap. Ensure that the electrode is defective with a multimeter. The device will show a contact break.

STEP 2 of 14 For silicone screeds and detachable fixators: remove the cable from the defective electrode from the retainer. Be careful not to damage other electrodes! For solid silicone tubes: skip this step.

STEP 3 of 14 Remove the cable tie from the sleeve, bite the cable tie with pliers.

STEP 4 of 14 Disassemble the case of DB25 connector with a 5 mm screwdriver.

STEP 5 of 14 Remove the cable tie from the DB25 connector, bite the cable tie with pliers.

STEP 6 of 14 Remove the crimped end of the cable from the connector using an extractor.

STEP 7 of 14 For a self-closing sleeves: remove the cable of the defective electrode from the sleeve. For non-self-closing sleeves: Before removing, cut the crimp and attach a 2 m thread to the end of the wire; Remove the electrode out of the sleeve with a thread. After removing, the thread should be visible from both sides of the sleeve; Unbind the thread from the cable of the defective electrode.

STEP 7.1 of 14 For non-self-closing sleeve: In the presence of solid silicone tubes, remove the electrode out of the tubes and, if necessary, remove the tubes by cutting pliers.

STEP 8 of 14 For self-closing sleeve: Route the cable of the new electrode into the sleeve.   For non-self-closing sleeve: Extend the new electrode with a thread that is in the braid.

STEP 9 of 14 Insert the crimped end of the cable into the connector using an extractor.

STEP 10 of 14 Ensure that the installed electrode is working properly using a multimeter.

STEP 11 of 14 Install the cable tie in the DB25 connector.

STEP 12 of 14 Assemble the DB25 connector using a 5 mm Phillips screwdriver.

STEP 13 of 14 Return the sleeve to the original place and install the cable tie on the sleeve. Do not forget to pass the cable tie through the hole in the square retainer with velcro.

STEP 14 of 14 If necessary, install a retainer or cable tie to the cable of the new electrode, connecting it with the adjacent cables. Fix the electrode in the hole of the cap in the place of the faulty one. Your MCScap is ready!
