How to Write a Research Paper

Let’s watch this Video !!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZxpGj5SIbs

What is a Research Paper? A research is actually a piece of WORK IN YOUR OWN WORDS that fully discusses a topic that you have spent time learning about. It is to be in depth and intelligent, with support from credible sources. This paper will be YOUR work, but you have based your knowledge on the credible work of others.

Wait !!!!!!!!!!!! Research is not: Just gathering information Rearranging facts Combining a paragraph from an encyclopedia with a couple of paragraphs from websites. That's plagiarism.

Research Process

Defining and planning your task Needed requirement before starting Read the assignment and identify the research question. Identify assessment criteria. Underline due dates. Sources needed.

Things to consider when choosing a topic 1. picking a topic of interest 2. deciding what you know and do not know about this topic 3. Choose a subject for which a wide range of source material is available. 4. determining if the topic is too narrow (no research) or too broad (too much research).

After you have chosen a general topic, you must narrow it so that it becomes more specific and easier to research.

BROAD TOPIC: Anorexia Nervosa Narrowing the Topic to Sub-Topics BROAD TOPIC: Anorexia Nervosa Narrowed TOPIC: Effects of Anorexia Nervosa Sub-Topic 1: Decreasing of Vitamins and Minerals in the body Sub-Topic 2: Negative side effects on organs Sub-Topic 3: Heart issues
