Hillside Montessori students tour Lagrange, Georgia Hello to our friends in the Philippines!

This is our town square. The statue is of marquis de lafayette, a french explorer who visited here in 1825 and thought it reminded him of his home in france.

First Presbyterian Church Many of the students at Hillside Montessori first went to school here at First Presbyterian Montessori. This church was built in 1829. We stopped by for a photo while on our walking tour of LaGrange last week.

A fire hydrant This student decided to hug a fire hydrant while on our walk. He says, “Firefighters hook their hose up to the fire hydrant and it sucks out the water from the pipes underground. This is how they put out fires.”

This is a pharmacy, gift store, and ice cream shop This is a pharmacy, gift store, and ice cream shop. People with prescriptions for their doctors come to pick up medicine. The ice cream shop looks like an old fashioned soda fountain.

A curbside trash can People who live within the city limits use the city sanitation service. Each household gets a trashcan like this, and once per week the sanitation crew comes to pick up the trash. Within the last year, they have also started a curbside recycling collection. Now, residents can choose to recycle plastic, aluminum, paper, and cardboard through the sanitation department.

Each year, this tree is displayed by our town square to celebrate christmas.

This lady works for the United states postal service This lady works for the United states postal service. She drives along a designated route and delivers and picks up mail. We can place our mail in a mailbox or take it to the post office. Right now, a postage stamp costs 47 cents for a letter weighing one ounce or less.

This is First Baptist Church This is First Baptist Church. It is one of the biggest churches in our town.

This building is the English department at lagrange college This building is the English department at lagrange college. We chose to include this photo because two of us have dads who are english professors here. The college was founded in 1831 and is the oldest private college in georgia. Enrollment is around 1,000 students.

Here is a picture of the little white house - vacation home of president franklin d. Roosevelt. On election day (November 8) we came here and held a debate about our presidential candidates.

Here is a class photo of many of the students and teachers from Hillside Montessori School. In this photo, we are visiting the little white house in warm springs, ga .
