American Revolution Taxes Flip Book

Why did Great Britain need to raise money? To pay for the cost of the French and Indian War. To pay for the cost of British troops to protect the colonies.

What was the Sugar Act? A tax on sugar and molasses.

How did Great Britain enforce the payment of taxes? They sent tax collectors to American to collect taxes. British troops searched people’s homes for smuggled goods.

What was the Stamp Act? What things were taxed under this act? Required that colonists pay a taxes on certain items they bought. newspapers, legal documents and playing cards.

Who were the Sons of Liberty? What did they do? Groups of colonists that protested British taxes. They attacked tax collectors.
