Thank you for not chewing gum or anything else  Materials: Pencil Notebook Packet Lab Book D-23 Agenda: Agenda Bell work NB Check -QUIZ BP: Plate Tectonics Activity 40- The Continental Puzzle Activity 41 11/30 Daily Objective: Today we will analyze data that supports continental movement over time. Daily Question: The continents of the world fit together to form a puzzle. Do you agree or disagree with this statement? Explain.

Vocabulary: Continental Drift: the idea that continents have slowly moved over time. Plate tectonics: Theory that the earth is divided into plates that move via convection currents. This explains why there are earthquakes & volcanoes.

Procedure: Act 40: Part A: Continent Puzzle Show me your puzzle when you think you have it correct. Sketch & label the diagram in your notebook AQ 1-4 Continents in the future Act 41: Open packet to page D-65 Read the 10 statements. Check off if the statement is evidence or opinion If evidence, decide if it supports continental drift.

Procedure: Alfred Wegner Reading: Take Cornell Notes – Get Main Idea Write Power Paragraph on Continental Drift! Use writing frame (41.2) as rough draft Score Power Paragraph: Continental Drift 4 In addition to having ALL parts of a 3 complete, the student may have: Explained and discredited a counterargument, OR Made connections beyond what was taught in class, OR Wrote the article in an exceptionally sound manner. 3 The student: Correctly identified and explained Wegener’s theory in the topic sentence, AND Provided 3 pieces of evidence that support this theory, AND Provided further explanation for the evidence, AND Finalized the main idea (conclusion),AND Highlighted appropriately. 2 Has most elements of a 3, but is missing some items, OR Support for this idea was adequate but not as strong as it could have been. 1 Missing most elements of a 3.
