Waiting to be fed can cause frustration. Develops and ego. Smoking, chewing pens and finger nails. Overeating & drinking. Sarcasm & verbal hostility. Anal 1-3 The anus Toilet training – harsh or lax. Conditional love from parents. Anal retentive: obsessive tidiness. Intolerance. Anal expulsive: sloppiness, defiance, excessive generosity. Phallic 3-5 Penis or clitoris Masturbation Boys and girls diverge. Oedipus complex/ electra complex. Men: anxiety about sex. Fear of castration. Women: feelings of inferiority and envy. Latent 5 to puberty Sexual drives are repressed Repression of previous stages. Acquiring skills and knowledge for adult life. No fixations Genital puberty-death The genitals masturbation & intercourse Sexual drives are re-awoken. Adult life is dedicated to the pursuit of sexual relationships. Fixation here shows a well adjusted adult.
