Sitting your exams
Make sure you know when and where your exams are Aim to be in school at least 15 minutes before the start of the exam Be organised and have the equipment that you need – including spare black pens
The night before Only attempt light revision - using your notes Try not to revise anything new Get together all the equipment you will need e.g. pens, ruler, calculator Get a good night’s sleep
On the day Get up in plenty of time When you leave the house make sure you take all you need with you If you do any last minute revision make sure it is just flicking through your notes/flashcards etc Attend any subject specific revision offered
In the exam room Compose yourself Read the instructions carefully Answer the correct number of questions – know what is expected for each subject Where there is a choice of questions consider carefully which ones you should answer Take time to plan your responses - especially for the questions that are worth more marks Manage your time effectively
Understand exam questions Read the questions carefully Underline the command terms Use the marks available to plan your answers Keep your answer relevant to the question For longer answers – use paragraphs, connect your points together, have a clear structure
