Ms. Alderson’s Superheroes Science/Social Studies 2nd Grade 770-578-7200 Kawanna.Alderson@cobbk12.org Ms. Alderson’s Superheroes Week of March 26, 2018 WEEKLY HOMEWORK A Peek at Our Week Reading: Author’s Purpose We will identify the main purpose of a text, including what the author wants to answer, explain, or describe. Writing Choose a writing prompt from the March writing calendar Math IXL Practice math facts Review shapes study guide (attached to newsletter-please keep for two weeks) Math: 2D and 3D Shapes We will learn how to identify 2-D and 3-D shapes. We will recognize and draw shapes having specified attributes, such as a given number of angles or equal faces. We will also partition circles and rectangles into two, three, or four equal shares. Spelling Choose an activity from the March challenge board Choose an activity from the March Speller’s Choice activity sheet-buy, eight, own Writing: Informational Writing We will write an informative/explanatory text that introduces a topic, uses facts and definitions to develop points, and provides a concluding statement or section. Reading Read for an informational text 20 minutes and determine the author’s purpose-answer, explain, or describe. Raz-kids Discuss safety rules for your home and neighborhood. Science/SS/Health: Accident Prevention We will compare and contrast accident prevention strategies to use in recreational activities/sports and identify safe and unsafe places to play in the home, school, and neighborhood.
