Assessment of Remote Experiments and Local Simulations: Student Experiences, Satisfaction Jim Henry University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Richard L. Zollars Washington State University Student Feedback What We Did Outcome Using Control Station Outcome Using UTC Site Conclusions No differences in learning the course material were observed although this aspect was not assessed directly. While students appreciate real experiments (even if conducted over a distance) accessibility and speed are of greater concern. Assess student learning/attitudes prior to first exposure to each technique to determine initial learning curve differences Use a hybrid approach – have students take data from web, use Control Station for analysis Future Plans
