Lunch Menu (Week we Get back) Alternates for the week: Social Studies We started our new unit, Africa! Students completed a KWL chart. We talked about what some students already knew and what students wanted to learn about Africa. We also watched the video, African-American Heritage, and learned about Africa’s culture. Science This week we wrapped up our recycling unit by reading/watching the original Lorax. Students used their imaginations to create their own machine that would better the environment. They also wrote what they would do if they had the last truffula tree and how they could help the trees. Math We continued working in chapters 13 & 17, Addition and Subtraction to 40 & 100. We started subtraction with and without grouping this week. Regrouping is a difficult concept for some students, so please also practice this at home. If you have the time, please practice double digit addition and subtraction, with and without regrouping, over spring break.
