Naples, Italy October 26th 2018 1.b Lines under construction Interoperability: Around 400 trains equipped with ETCS from five different suppliers: Ansaldo, Alstom, Bombardier, Caf and Siemens Running over ETCS lines equipped by six suppliers: Ansaldo, Alstom, Bombardier, Caf, Thales and Siemens. Interoperability is a fact! Investment 222 M€ Six trackside Suppliers (Ansaldo, Alstom, Caf, Bombardier Siemens and Thales) Total N1 524 km Total N2 1071 km Cost variation from 350 k€/km in the first phase to 120 k€/km in the last contracts Scenario at the end 2019: 3.465 km ERTMS version 2.3.0d and 694 M€ invested High Level ERTMS Event. 2. Spanish ETCS Deployment Plan The “Spanish ETCS Deployment Plan” sent to EC, plans to install ETCS by 2030 in the lines belonging to Mediterranean and Atlantic corridors plus lines constructed before 2020 (in green) , and additional lines completing main connections (in yellow). Almería Zaragoza Alcazar Linares Cordoba Algeciras Alicante Bilbao Salamanca Malaga Mediterranean Corridor Atlantic Corridor Lines equipped with ETCS before 2020 Lines equipped with ETCS before 2030 Nevertheless the pending challenges still are: Reduce ETCS cost (on board and trackside) in order to make economically feasible this Deployment Plan Reduce ETCS cost to deploy it in the rest of conventional network to increase the safety. Backwards Compatibility of BL3 trains running over BL2 lines . Most of the Spanish lines would be 2.3.0.d. Deployment of new functionalities as ATO or Galileo Speeding up the process of Placing in Service Low Cost ETCS BCA S2R Increase the role of ETCS testing labs High Level ERTMS Event.
