through our Lord Jesus Christ, received …reconciliation. 11 …we…rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have… received …reconciliation.

Federal Headship A theological term used by some scholars to explain imputation [being credited] Not clearly set out in the Bible, but implied Adam is the federal head, or representative, of humanity All of humanity is considered guilty because Adam is our representative

Federal Headship Jesus' righteousness is “imputed” to sinners when they accept Christ as Saviour All who believe in Him and are then brought into right relationship with God Not through works but solely through the grace of God

15…the sin of one man, Adam, brought death to many. Federal Headship 15…the sin of one man, Adam, brought death to many.

Federal Headship 15…the sin of one man, Adam, brought death to many.* 18Christ…brings a right relationship with God… for all.* Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. (*New Living Translation)

20 God’s law was given so that all people Romans 5(NLT) 20 God’s law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were…

23 for all have sinned and fall short Romans 3 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful grace became more abundant.

21 So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead…

…giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

34 Their Redeemer is strong; The Lord of hosts is His name. Jeremiah 50 34 Their Redeemer is strong; The Lord of hosts is His name. He will thoroughly plead their case, That He may give rest to the land…

17 …it was necessary for Him to be made in every respect like us, Hebrews 2 (NLT)  17 …it was necessary for Him to be made in every respect like us, His brothers and sisters,

so that He could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God.

Then He could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of the people.

18 Since He himself has gone through when we are being tested. suffering and testing, He is able to help us when we are being tested.

Ruth gleaning in the field of Boaz

20 Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, “Why, God bless that man! Ruth 2 20 Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, “Why, God bless that man!  God hasn’t quite walked out on us after all!

He still loves us, in bad times as well as good!”

Naomi went on, “That man, Ruth, is one of our circle of covenant [kinsmen] redeemers, a close relative of ours!”

5 “If brothers dwell together, and one of them dies and has no son, Deuteronomy 25 [Levirate Marriage] 5 “If brothers dwell together, and one of them dies and has no son, the widow of the dead man shall not be married to a stranger outside the family;

her husband’s brother shall go in to her, take her as his wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her.

6 And it shall be that the firstborn son which she bears will succeed to the name of his dead brother, that his name may not be blotted out of Israel.

Boaz – Ruth’s kinsman redeemer

Four things were required: He must be near of kin. He must be able to redeem He must be free to redeem He must be willing to redeem Redemption was completed when the price was completely paid

Jesus is our Kindred Redeemer: He is near of kin. He is be able to redeem He is free to redeem He is willing to redeem Jesus paid the price in full
