What do YOU think are the three most important traits of a childcare teacher?

Pre-write Write the three traits that you have chosen in the boxes on the graphic organizer

Pre-write Brainstorm support for these three traits on the lined boxes What does each trait look like and sound like? This is how you put FIRE in your writing! just ideas-not sentences

Pre-write Don’t forget the conclusion Why do you think these traits are the most important characteristics for a good childcare professional?

Rough Draft Now it’s time to organize your thoughts: You are a childcare director who needs to hire a preschool teacher

Your assignment is to write an employee profile that describes the three most important traits that you are looking for in a childcare professional.

Decide which of your brainstorming ideas fit best and highlight them on your pre-write. Let’s look at the format that you will be using for your employee profile paragraph.

3.8 Paragraph Format Three main ideas 8 sentences Containing supporting details or FIRES Linked using transitions See your resource handout for help with transitions or paragraph frames

(Do you see a pattern here?) 3.8 Paragraph Sentence 1 introduces your three main ideas Sentences 2 and 3 discusses/supports/explains your first idea Sentences 4 and 5 discusses/supports/explains your second idea (Do you see a pattern here?)

3.8 Paragraph Sentences 6 and 7 discusses/supports/explains your third idea Sentence 8 is your summary or conclusion

Rough Draft It’s time to turn your brainstorming into sentences. Follow the format to stay organized

Final Copy This time you will put your sentences into a paragraph format – not separate sentences. Remember to indent the first line Refer to your resource handout for help using transitional words. Write in blue or black ink

Final Copy Use the writing rubric to edit your work. Ask someone to read your paragraph to you out loud so you can hear if your writing makes sense. If they stumble over your words, you probably have grammatical errors to fix.

Final Copy Re-write if you need to fix any errors. When you turn in your work it should include your pre-write, rough draft and all your final copies and editing rubrics. Staple in a packet with the oldest in the bottom and the newest work on top
