Barents 2020 Phase 4 - Working Group RN04 17 January 2019 Barents 2020 Phase 4 - Working Group RN04 Kick-off Meeting, Moscow, August 24 - 25, 2010

Barents 2020 Phase 4 – Working Group 4 Members

Overview The RN04 Work Group has identified the need for change in existing maritime and offshore oil and gas standards for Escape, Evacuation and Rescue (EER) operations in the Barents Sea. The panel has assessed selected International, Norwegian, and Russian standards for maritime and offshore work typical for Barents Sea conditions, taking into account Russian and Norwegian experience. The assessment has included a review of a limited number of key recognised standards, which currently contribute to the definition of the safety level for people, environment and investments

Key Standards It was concluded that the Draft International Standard (DIS) for ISO19906 should be used as a common basis for the panel’s comments and recommendations.

Objective and Scope of RN04 Work in Phase 4 Objective: Apply the general system recommendations for Escape, Evacuation and Rescue (EER) given in the new standard ISO19906, and provide more specific and practical guidance suitable for Barents Sea conditions, including high-level recommendations and functional specifications for an Arctic survival craft design. Scope of Work: Task 1: Coordination and Management Task 2: Detailed Gap Assessment Task 3: Preparation of Guidance Document Task 4: Organization of EER Seminar or Workshop Required Results / Deliverable Detailed industry guideline on EER for Barents Sea, in the form of an independent document, part or all of which may become a regional amendment to ISO19906.
