Presentation transcript:

Moses and the ten Plagues By the end of today’s lesson you will be able to: To know that the Israelites had been slaves in Egypt for 400 years and that Moses was the man who led them out of slavery To understand why God sent the Ten Plagues To consider whether God was fair to send 10 Plagues

The story so far The Israelites have been in slavery in Egypt for over 400 years God called Moses to go to Egypt to help bring the Israelites out of slavery He confronted Pharaoh, but he refused to let the Israelites go. In response, God sent a series of Ten Plagues to make Pharaoh change his mind.

The ten Plagues Using the textbook to help you, answer the following questions: 1) Explain what happened after God spoke to Moses in the desert? (only include information up to and not including ‘The Pesach Festival’) 2) Which two plagues do you think were the worst and why? Explain your answer carefully Extension: How do you think the Egyptians would have felt about the Israelites after He sent these plagues? Give reasons for your answer.

Was this the right thing for God to DO? Some people have difficulties with the idea that God should have sent the Ten Plagues on the Egyptians – why do you think this is? However, other people believe God was right to do this – why do you think this is? What do you think?

Was God right to send the Ten plagues on the egyptians? Write a personal response to the question, making sure that you have covered more than one point of view Paragraph 1: Some people think that God was right to send the ten plagues because... Paragraph 2: Some people think that God was wrong to send the Ten Plagues because... Conclusion: personally, I believe....because... Try to think of as many reasons as possible.
