One-on-one support Careers Drop-In Service No appointment is needed for this service 10 minute consultations e.g. resume, selection criteria, cover letter reviews Monday-Friday 8.45am-5pm at the Bentley Campus Building 102, Curtin Connect Online job application reviews Submit documents through UniHub & email feedback will be provided: unihub.curtin.edu.au Feedback takes approximately 5 business days (response time is occasionally longer during busy times, like the start of semester) Career planning is a very individual activity as we all want different things our of a career and have different things to offer. HDR students often have very specific or niche career plans and find generic career resources aren’t that helpful; so many of you may find one to one careers advice very useful. HDR Careers Consultant role (if it still exists?)

Summary Final year of research will be challenging, start researching potential career options early eGrad School – various free online courses specifically for research students e.g. ‘Developing you Career’ Academic positions are very competitive – a strategic plan is needed if this is going to be realistic – publish, be proactive in your department, build networks, collaborate Ensure you understand how to market your PhD, especially to industry – transferable skills & convey the practical application of your research (if relevant) Thesis Whisperer – blog for research students, careers related articles Careers, Employment & Leadership services are free for current students and up to 12 months after you graduate
