“Give Me 5” Warrior Way Wednesday

What does “Give me 5” mean? Ears Listening Sit up Straight Lips Closed Eyes on Speaker Eyes on Speaker

When an adult holds up their hand, this is the signal for you to “Give Me 5”.

What should I do when I see the signal for “Give Me 5”? I will put my eyes on the speaker. I will stop talking and make my mouth quiet. I will have my ears listening. I will sit up straight. I will have my hands and feet quiet.

What are ways that we can use “Give me 5”? Emergencies (tornado or fire drill) Small group work Preparing for dismissal During announcements Adult speaker in class

Reasons to use “Give Me 5” Disadvantages for not Using “Give Me 5” Allows teacher to get students’ attention in a positive manner (Respect learning and others) Teachers and students might interact in a negative way Allows others to hear important information (Respect for learning) Students miss important information Shows respect for others by allowing everyone to be heard
