Audit report is a good place where you can get some information. But speak to the partner to fill in the blanks.

Finances There has been a very long standing request to build a partial compound wall and gate. This is because there is a small shrine inside the forest beyond the school and village. This seems to periodically attract some crowds, many of whom at night drink/cause small trouble around the school (and try to camp on school premises). This problem has been there for ~10 years. Instead of a full wall, a partial wall along the road might suffice (see photo). Instead of Asha supporting these costs, it’ll be fantastic if this can be crowd sourced (I would guess 4-5 lakh rupees to build this wall).    Expect questions on biggest sources of income, how much they contribute, bank balances,.. Audit report is a good place where you can get some information. But speak to the partner to fill in the blanks.

Asha, Seattle Involvement Heavily dependent on Dr. Subramaniah and his health Site Visit report attached with receipts and latest pictures Communication counterparts No Internet access at the school. How can technology help? How can we make that happen through a star project? Project forward? Threats and land encroachment (Safety) Second set of slides focus on Asha Seattle’s involvement.

Updates for 2018-2019 Continued involvement and advanced funding Now updates for the specific year/period starts. Be clear as to which period you are covering.

General Partner Updates There are now ~35 children in classes 1-5. The numbers are between 6-13 kids in each class. The overall attendance for this year is very good, averaging ~80% for most kids. ALL kids come from SC/ST backgrounds, and below poverty line backgrounds. The mid day meal (rice, sambhar and rasam) has been absolutely critical for them. Overall updates first.

Updates for Asha, Seattle   All children are distributed between just the two teachers, who cover all subjects between them. There is some learning, overall basic reading and writing capability is ok. Compared to a few years ago, it is not as good (it was exceptional back then), but it is not bad. Most kids above grade 3 could read, write, with one or two quite proficient (all in Telugu). The teachers are doing their absolute best, given that they each handle classes 1-5 all at once. The school originally had hosted classes 1-10, all in separate rooms. But now, with few staff, they use only 2-3 of the classrooms for all children (grouping across ages). This is ok largely. The kids are very happy to be in school, the atmosphere remains good (and much better than their homes), the school is very clean and has lots of play areas. Asha, Seattle specific updates.

Updates for Asha, Seattle   Compulsory registration of kids after primary school (i.e. grade 6 onwards) in nearby government schools. These schools are not good at all, and the children there would prefer to remain in the MICDA school, but these are now government policy, so have to be enforced. Although these schools are 5-6 km away (only) the terrain is rough, and the road bad, so kids don’t walk there. Instead, the government has made them residential schools, and there are some problems due to that, but that is the situation currently. Asha, Seattle specific updates.

Site Visit Report Attached details from Sunil Laxman as received on 23rd January 2018 when the site visit was made. Place holder for site visit report. Add more slides if necessary.

Audit Report The school recently went through a rigorous process and was put under extreme financial stress to renew its recognition and related food safety certificates in 2015 that did get approved. Related certificates have been attached. All receipts, attendance register and reporting and documentation have been attached. Place holder for the audit report. Add more slides if necessary. FCRA approved organizations are also required to file a report which details how FCRA money was spent in India. If you have this report, this report can also be used.

Survey Results 80% attendance rate and kids are largely satisfied and happy (the mid day meal program has been really helpful) Include the results of the survey. A year-over-year comparison will be nice but not necessary.

Process Checks Rs. 4,51,000/- (Rupees Four Lakh Fifty one thousand only) arrears for the year 2014-15 and Rs. 8,50,000/- (Rupees Eight Lakh fifty thousand only) budget proposed for the year 2015-16, thus, total tune of Rs. 13,01,000/- (Rupees Thirteen Lakh and One Thousand only) have been received. Final check list.
