Do Now 3/13/14 Where can soil be found? How many layers of soil are there? Hold the questions off intel the video.

What is Soil ? Soil makes up the outermost layer of our planet. Topsoil is the most productive soil layer. Soil has varying amounts of organic matter (living and dead organisms), minerals, and nutrients.

What Soil Contains Soil is basically the solid material on the earths surface that is formed after the interaction of Weathering and biological activity under hard rock.

Weathering Weathering is the breaking down of rocks, soil and minerals as well as artificial materials through contact with the Earth's atmosphere, biota and waters

Deposition What is it? It is a process where soil erosion stops when the transported particles finally fall out of the transporting medium and settle on a surface. It is the laying down of sediment, which are transported by wind, water, or even ice.

Decomposition When a plant, animal, or insect dies, that plant, animal, or insect is broken into tiny pieces and those pieces become part of the soil.
