THE HEALTH TRIANGLE

WHAT IS HEALTH? A state of physical, mental/emotional, and social well-being, and not just the absence of illness or injury. Think of your answers from your self- assessment… The choices you make everyday will make up your total health. Are you making healthy choices?

What is the HEALTH TRIANGLE? It represents the different aspects of health and BALANCE

Physical Health – Involves taking care of your body. How can we improve or harm our physical health?

MENTAL/EMOTIONAL HEALTH Mental/Emotional Health – How well you handle your feelings, thoughts, & the situations you face every day. How can we improve or harm our mental/emotional health?

SOCIAL HEALTH Social Health – How well you relate to others. How can we improve or harm our social health?

BALANCE If one piece of the triangle is affected, can other pieces be affected at the same time? Example How? You break your leg at soccer practice. Your girlfriend/boyfriend breaks up with you. Completing a 5K. Taking a shower.

What are we trying to achieve regarding our health triangle? Wellness! Maintaining balanced health over a long period of time. Are we always guaranteed a high-level of wellness when we are making good choices? No, but we increase our odds!

Health Triangle Assignment If you do not finish it in class, it is homework. Please do not trash the magazines (don’t write in them or cut them up for no reason) Clean up after yourselves
