A Whirlwind (but not a black hole) at CERN Code Edited From Jochem Snuverink Ryan Bodenstein FONT Meeting 2015/11/13

Preview LinSim Helping a lot, though still figuring it out Doing beam offset studies for 3TeV and 380 GeV BDS. Now a CERN User, and have access to LXPLUS and the batch system at CERN Now trying to set up batch jobs Met with the CLIC group Plan to go to CLIC workshop in January Plan to meet frequently with Jochem before the holidays CLIC Workshop plans IPAC 2016 plans

What else happened? Can now access the CERN Linux and batch systems. I am currently running my first try at a 110-machine (seed) correction scheme. Once I see how this works, I can do the analysis and compare with Jochem’s results. The BDS Tuning meeting allowed me to see what others are working on a bit. CLIC meeting allowed me to meet other CLIC people, as well as hear some great input for various projects (namely Jochem’s). A full week of interaction with Jochem and others was very informative and helpful, albeit overwhelming at times. I gained a lot from this trip.

More Plans Jochem and I will try to meet frequently in the next 5 weeks. We will be preparing for two things: IPAC 2016 abstract CLIC Workshop (January 18-22, 2016) We are both on holiday around Xmas/NY I am focusing the majority of my time on the offset and IP Feedback studies for various lattice setups (energy and L*) A smaller part of my time is helping Jochem with the 2-beam tuning. This mostly involves a bit of modified 1-beam tuning, while he focuses on actual 2-beam tuning. You can see a lot of this here: https://indico.cern.ch/event/461304/contribution/0/attachments/1185726/1718872/TwoBeamTuning151111.pdf
