Asset Based approaches– What’s Are they and why do they matter! A briefing for the Building Stronger Communities Fund Steve Manwaring Director, Hastings Voluntary Action This Briefing provides information about a new grant fund which is available to support local people, groups and those wanting to “make a difference in their local community. This session will outline the purpose of the fund and ‘unpack’ some of the language and concepts behind Asset Based activity so that local groups can see how their work fits in with the ideas which under-pin this funding.

This fund is all about the things which help to build strong communities East Sussex County Council have provided this funding, and have asked HVA, RVA and 3VA to help people to apply for it.

Background Public Health Interested in strong communities because:- Connected people live longer!! Connected people live better!! Strong communities get things done! Strong communities can reduce isolation by bringing people together
