The Transcontinental Railroad Railroads were trying to be made for a better source of transportation. People also thought the railroad would link the East and West. Two companies called Union Pacific and Central Pacific were asked to made the Transcontinental Railroad. Many immigrants were from Europe and China. Not everyone agreed with this ideas those people were Native Americans. They wanted food and the railroads were scaring the buffalo.

The Gold Rush Once people discovered gold they all rushed to Nevada City, California. No one found the gold right away. Gold mining required hard work and patience.

Cowboys Cowboys were men that who do dangerous things. When the cowboys heard the demand in the East they thought of ways to transport their longhorns. They started cattle drives. Unfortunley cattle drives was a problem because farmers complained the longhorns were in their land. Therfore farmers fenced their land with barbed wire.
