Process for taking JCC class... Students interested in taking an on campus JCC class or classes next year should simply fill out the link mentioned on their registration form: bit.ly/chsccpregistration Our area CCP director, Becky Russell, will meet with your student to help with the registration and the paperwork process. She is scheduled to be here on March 13th - 15th to register all CHS students for JCC classes. Every single student MUST go to JCC to complete this registration! Students will be given these directions in their meeting with Mrs. Russell

AP vs. CCP What is the difference?

SAT & ACT •Tests taken as part of the college admissions process •Colleges will accept scores from either/both tests. •Most schools “superscore”…they use the higher of all scores sent to them. •It is best to wait until you have completed Math 3 before taking the SAT or ACT •We recommend taking both the SAT and ACT by the end of your junior year and retest beginning of senior year.

Things to keep in mind about senior year course schedule… When you are applying to college, you are applying with your 9th -11th Grade Transcript and your Senior Schedule What your senior year schedule looks like will depend on where you want to go to school and your plans after graduation. Be familiar with competitive school expectations of a senior schedule. Some schools don’t like to see TA and Early Release/Late Arrival and some schools don’t care. Don’t drop rigorous classes second semester once accepted. Maintain rigor.

Prestigious Scholarships Scholarships such as the UNC-Chapel Hill Morehead Cain, NCSU Park Scholarship, and UNC-Charlotte Levine full ride scholarships are very competitive and have early deadlines. If you are interested in being nominated for any of these: Make sure you do your research. Take the SAT at the end of your Junior Year. Take ACT and/or SAT in the beginning of your Senior Year. Visit the schools

Planning for College •Get the best grades possible this year…it’s really your last year to improve/maintain your standing before you start applying to college next fall! •Prepare for college admissions tests (SAT & ACT) •Start developing a resume…a record of your activities, honors, work experience, etc. •Research schools •Make college visits in the spring and summer.
