NRS Updates Long island raen part I February 2018

New Reporting Deadlines NRS & NYRS EPE August 15, 2018 August 15, 2018

Coding Students in ASISTS Funding Codes: Determine during Intake Process, which funding source to assign to students After student has accrued 12 contact hours and a valid pre test, no changes to funding codes should be made

Coding Students in ASISTS Preference is to code the Instructional Offering (class) with the funding code(s) that support that class If students are enrolled and NO funding code is assigned to individual students then: All students in the class will be counted under ALL funding codes assigned to that class All students would then be held to the higher rigor of the National Reporting System if either WIOA or EPE is assigned to the class

Example: ABC Instructional Offering Funding Codes attached WIOA and ALE Sally Sitsalot enrolled with no funding code George Washington enrolled with no funding code Amy Watson enrolled and tagged as ALE funded WIOA reports will include Sally and George Both will be held to the higher rigor of NRS ALE report will include Sally, George, and Amy However, Sally & George will need to demonstrate MSG under NRS rules, while Amy will go under NYRS

Automatic Exits Automatic Exiting is the source of concern, not PoPs! Entering literacy data on a monthly basis will resolve these issues

Automatic Exits Student records (ISRFs), Instructional Offerings, Instructional Activity (attendance) must be entered on a monthly basis

Automatic Exiting Reminder: No attendance recorded for a student for three (3) consecutive months Student is auto-exited by ASISTS on the last day of the last month where attendance occurred

Automatic Exits Attendance must be entered into ASISTS on a monthly basis Example: Attendance from September should have been entered into ASISTS by October 31st. On November 1st, students from July, August, and September will be exited if there was no attendance recorded in ASISTS

Automatic Exiting

NYSED Assessment Policy 2017/2018 Change in protocol, policy remains the same NO premature post testing Never was allowed as policy Will not count after January 2018 Programs with less than 6 hours per week need to contact their NYSED Regional Liaison

NYS Assessment Policy FY17/18 Posted on NYSED website Posted on all RAEN websites

NYSED Assessment Policy 2017/2018 The table below lists minimum requirements for post-testing schedules, NYS does not allow premature post-testing for any reason: Intensity of Program Post Test Schedule Six to Nine hours per week Posttest after 40 – 60 contact hours Ten or more hours per week Posttest after 60 – 80 contact hours Volunteer Tutorial Program Posttest after 30 contact hours

NYSED Assessment Policy 2017/2018 Note: The table lists minimum requirements for the initial Post-test Any subsequent post test(s) do not need to follow the same timeline. Timing is left to the test administrator or teacher. Applies within the fiscal year

TABE 11 & 12 Programs will begin using TABE 11/12 on July 1, 2019 Plan for budgets to purchase all new testing booklets and score sheets Transition process will mirror the one used for BEST Plus 2.0 which means at the end of FY2018/2019 programs will be post testing on TABE 9/10 and pre testing on TABE 11/12 to prepare for the new year DRC will no longer publish TABE 9/10 after February 2019
