An Introduction to PPEC You will be answering your homework questions in the PPEC format. PPEC is a strategy to write good paragraphs A paragraph is a group of sentences (4-6) on one topic Each sentence only contains 1 idea A paragraph is always indented at the beginning For your paragraph write in complete, conventionally, and grammatically correct sentences

PPEC It stands for: P - Point P - Proof E - Explain C - Conclude

P - Point Your first sentence of a paragraph should introduce your main idea. Often rewording or using part of the question will help you do this easily. Always be specific in your first sentence by avoid vague pronouns (he, she, they, it etc); instead use specific names if possible. Do not start your answer with “Yes” or “No”; these are implied within your carefully constructed response. Do not start your sentence with a conjunction (and, because, but, or so) these are better used later to join ideas Make sure you answer each aspect of the question in the order asked to help organize your thoughts

P- Point Example Question: When and why do students have to go to class? Point: High school students typically have to go to class Monday through Friday to gain knowledge and prepare for their future careers.

P - Proof Whenever possible use very specific details or a direct quotation from your source (story, article, poem, novel, play, movie etc.) to support the point you are making. Thus helping to prove your point and demonstrate your knowledge of the material.
