6th Grade Science Unit 1: Electricity and Magnetism (September-October) Students ask questions, conduct investigations, and make observations in order to deepen this understanding of magnetic and electrical forces that are not directly observable. Unit 2: Engineering and Energy Transformations (November-December) Students to undertake various design challenges based upon the principles of insulation and minimization of heat loss. Unit 3: Ecosystems (January-February) Students will construct evidence-based explanations and arguments about how matter and energy are cycled through the living and nonliving parts of ecosystems. Unit 4: Weather and Atmosphere (March-April) Students will construct evidence-based explanations and arguments about how matter and energy are cycled through the living and nonliving parts of ecosystems. Unit 5: Human Impact on Earth’s Climate (May-June) Students ask questions, analyze and interpret historical global weather data and patterns, and begin understanding the applicability of scientific principles necessary to design methods for minimizing human impact on Earth’s climate.

MS 890 Science Fair 2019 (April/May) Students will inquire, research, design, and conduct their own science experiments! MS890 Finalists will compete in the District 22 Science Expo and Middle School Science Fair in 2019.
