2 The Power of the Cross

And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God. - I Corinthians 2:1

For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. - I Corinthians 2:2

I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling, - I Corinthians 2:3

and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, - I Corinthians 2:4

so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God. - I Corinthians 2:5

Destroy Satan and Death The Cross had Power to Destroy Satan and Death

Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, - Hebrews 2:14

and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives. - Hebrews 2:15

The Cross had Power to Destroy Satan and Death Create Hope

Because of the hope laid up for you in heaven, of which you previously heard in the word of truth, the gospel. - Colossians 1:5

The preaching of the cross produces hope because God does not, cannot, fail in carrying out His promise.

The heart is always drawn to the cross once the head understands the message.

The cross provides the forgiveness and healing we need.

The cross creates hope by revealing God’s power.

The cross is universally needed and wanted.

The power is in the Message not the Messenger!
