Now… Now that we’ve completed this summarizing activity, develop a paragraph to concisely summarize the central meanings and messages of each text. After that, answer the following questions: Who determines freedom in the novels? Who determines freedom in your life? Based on what we’ve learned, what are some other ways that cultures can determine freedoms? What qualities or traits of the characters can you associate with? Do you see yourself in any of these characters? Explain how and why. Why might an author want you to perceive yourself as similar to their characters?
