Great Expectations Assigned Chapters and Topics EXAMPLE NOTE: This is only an example. This example only has the bare minimum of what I expect from you. You will need to make your own project far more in-depth, visually interesting, and detailed. It is IMPERATIVE you know which days you present. Each day late well be a 25 point deduction off the top for ALL group members. Please see me in tutoring for any questions or guidance 

ASSIGNED CHAPTERS PRESENTATION

Great Expectations, Chapters 1 and 2 - Ricks You should include a title page of some sort with your assigned chapters and group member’s names. You also need to remember even the small details such as correct capitalization for titles, italics for the novel title, etc.

Chapter 1 You should divide the presentation by chapter. That is, complete the assigned activities for the first chapter, then repeat the same for the second. This answers the question as to whether or not you will need FIVE SLIDES FOR EACH CHAPTER. The answer is, yes.

THE WHAT Here you will tell us about the events (plot) in chapter 1

THE WHY How do the events that happen in the chapter motivate Pip and/or other characters? (basically, how do the plot and character relate?) This is where you move from simply stating events that took place, to describing how those events affect the character(s) involved now and possibly in the future of the plot. This requires critical thinking, inference, and analysis on your part, not simply a book report.

THE HOW How do Pip’s choices impact him or other characters in the story? Think of this slide as a more specific version of the one before it. Specifically the choices Pip makes – how do those choices affect him and his world?

THE MESSAGE What is the main theme in the chapter? Provide us with an example from the text to prove it (paraphrase or use exact text evidence).

SATIRE/FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE Provide at least 1 literary device (NOT metaphor or simile) here with exact text evidence from the novel. Also, note what is satirical in this chapter.

CHAPTER 2 I would then go through and do the same thing for chapter 2, my second assigned chapter.

QUESTIONS? What questions do you still have about your assigned chapters? Do you have any questions you would like to ask of your peers over your assigned chapters? You could also include a pop quiz to see how well your peers listened to you You could also include a game of some sort to measure this information – BE CREATIVE 

REMINDERS FOR YOU! Each individual student will submit their reflection document (worth 25 points overall) on presentation day. KNOW WHICH DAY YOU PRESENT AND BE PREPARED!

ASSIGNED TOPICS PRESENTATION Yes, this WILL be a separate presentation from the Chapters Presentation!!!!! Make sure when you cover your topic you are within the correct time period.

TITLE PAGE You should include a title page of some sort with your assigned TOPIC and group member’s names. Be sure to remember important details such as correct capitalization of names and titles.

OVERVIEW Tell us in this slide the literal definition of your topic. What does it mean, exactly? Introduce us to your topic in general here.

REVIEW OF WEBSITES Reference specific websites/sources here to tell us more about your topic. Be detailed here; whereas the previous slide is just an overview. This is your chance to get more in-depth about the topic. Do some websites have different things to say about your topic or do all websites say the same thing? Your slide should not be word-for-word. You should know enough about the topic to discuss it without reading the slide/or notes.

CONNECTIONS TO NOVEL You will now begin to connect your topic to the novel. Where do we see your topic in the novel so far? Give specific examples and accounts; and tell how it connects to any specific characters or plot events in the novel.

QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION Come up with some questions here pertaining to your topic and the novel to ask your peers. Or some suggested topics about which they can question you. You can also use the project document to come up with your own questions AND answers to spark class discussion

WORKS CITED List all sources here that you have used for this project. Remember to follow ALL SPECIFIC MLA formats for this! We have worked hard to perfect that this year  Don’t forget to include parenthetical citations inside of this presentation where needed.
