Awards Day at School Created by Beth Vorhaus, (2015) Nashville, Tennessee: Team Tennessee, Tennessee Voices for Children
Our school has an end of year celebration and awards ceremony. Our school celebrates the great learning that has happened during the year!
All of the school gathers in the gym
And, the principal and teachers give out awards for different things…. Math Medals Reading Science Ribbon 100 % Attendance Certificates Spelling Trophies Sports
Not everyone will get an award at the ceremony. If, I get an award I might feel excited, happy, & proud to be recognized. If I don’t get an award I might feel frustrated, sad or mad because I wanted to get one.
If I get an award: It is okay to feel: Some of my friends might not have gotten an award and they might feel: I should not brag and boast about getting the award. Excited Emocionado But I need to remember:
It is okay to feel this way: Good job, you worked hard! If I don’t get an award: It is okay to feel this way: But I need to remember… To think of a compliment to say to a friend who got an award: Awesome work! Good job, you worked hard!
We can all celebrate learning! Brainstorm with child/children how they can celebrate learning with each other everyday not just on awards day! Add class pictures of children learning!
