How is Year 7 Science Taught? 6 lessons per fortnight Each term is divided to cover Biology topics, Chemistry topics and Physics topics

How do we decide the setting? Sets for Maths and Science are linked. They are currently based on KS2 data. We will look at changes at the end of each term, alongside Maths. How do we decide the setting?

How do we assess? Mid point Built from the content covered in lessons Teacher feedback provided Provides teachers with information about gaps in knowledge Dedicated lesson to improve, reteach and progress Informs planning for progress Mid point

How do we assess? Students will sit a block test every term Autumn Term assessment: December 2018 Spring Term assessment March 2019 Summer Term assessment June 2019

How have we responded to change? Challenge built into KS3 to reflect the new GCSE content Greater emphasis on skills built into KS3 to reflect changes in examination assessment criteria Increased opportunity to apply maths skills in science reflecting changes at GCSE Biology = 10% Chemistry = 20% Physics = 30%

Homework: Embedding Set once a fortnight by each teacher Recall questions based on the topic being taught
