5 Themes of Geography
Location Describes where something is found. Absolute location – describes the place’s exact position on the Earth. Relative location – explains where a place is by describing places near it. Example: your home address
Place Describes what makes a location different from another location; I have different kinds of features such as: water, landforms, climate, soil, vegetation, airports, highways, buildings, bridges, and parks. Example: Climate can make places different
Human Environment Interaction Describes how people impact our earth and environment and how people adapt to live in their surroundings. Example: Pollution from cars
Movement Describes how people, ideas, and things are transported from one place to another. Example: Cars, Planes, the internet (ideas are moved)
Region Describes areas that have common features. Example: Regions may share the same climate zone
