Assignment This assignment requires you to write a 2000 word original report addressing the following areas:  Compare and analyse the supply chain of one service and one manufactured product of your choice. In addressing this report you should ensure that you consider: The overall design of the supply chains How decisions are made The role of the consumer The importance of quality

The Products One must be a service product One must be a physical manufactured product You should be able to research the products in full. No primary research is allowed.

The Products They may be products you know well - but remember you will need to be able to research the entire supply chain. Ideas?

Overall Design of the Supply Chain

Supply Chain Design (25%) Remember that this report should be a comparison What does each supply chain look like? Does it fit with the traditional model or something else? Are there any areas of issue or weakness? Sustainability or ethical issues? What could be changed or improved?

Decision-Making

Decision-Making (20%) How are decisions made? What is the process? What implications do these decisions have? What special considerations have to be taken into account? Have any poor decisions been made? Could the process be improved? Overall strategy

The Role of the Consumer

Consumer (20%) How is the consumer/customer involved with the supply chain? What influence do they have over the company or associated decision making? Do they shape supply chain strategy or not? Is manufacturing determined by consumers? Push or Pull manufacturing. Service implications?

The Importance of Quality

Quality (25%) What part does quality play in the overall supply chain strategy? Is quality something that is important in your examples? How do other functions of the supply chain such as purchasing impact on overall quality and quality perception?
